About The Assam Valley School

Foin 1995 by The Williamson Magor Education Trust and spread over a sprawling 95 sylvan hectares, The Assam Valley School aims to prepare children for life and for global citizenship in the twenty first century. The school has been established for the education of both boys and girls from primary through secondary school and it is amongst the top ranking residential schools in India. Its architectural design and its wide range of facilities, not only help the students attain their fullest academic potential, but also pose challenges to them in the equally rich fields of physical, cultural and artistic endeavors.

The greatness of an institution lies not in its state-of-the art infrastructure alone, but on the vision, tradition and legacy its built itself on. Nestled between the lush green tea gardens where the snowcapped mountains of Arunachal peep through the Nahors, The Assam Valley School prides itself in being a ‘School for adventure’ where education cherishes, enhances and inspires a student to be the best that they can be. The aspiration that lay at the core of its inception was to bring to the North East of India an institution which will be an amalgamation of the dynamics of a public school with a pan-Indian reach. The seed of this vision lay ensconced in the history of tea and the legend of the Williamson Magor Group, the world’s largest private tea company. It will be the drive and dynamism of Mrs. Julia Magor which will see to the inch by inch growth of this mammoth institution into the School, it is today. At AVS, we believe that education must be the greatest adventure in a child’s life while upholding timeless values like integrity, resilience, pursuit of excellence and respect that marks a 21st century citizen. An Aviator understands that dreams are made of ideas which may necessitate risks accompanied with failure. Life is a collection of such adventures where one learns courage in a fall and victory in the achievement of all.  The Silver Jubilee of the School reflected on global timeline its clarion call that ‘Truth is strength’ and human perseverance at the face of adversity, marks the evolution of society. At Assam Valley School, Tezpur, Assam, separate reading lists have been delivered to every individual at school to inculcate good reading habits amongst students.
